Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day on Saturday

If you have ever been to the Smithsonian Museums in Washington, DC, you are aware that most, if not all, offer free admission every day. This Saturday, September 24, 2011, a number of museums are opening their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Ticket for free. How do you get one of these ticket? Just go to Smithsonianmag.com and download a ticket to the museum of your choice. In Illinois, there are 34 museums participating, including the Adler Planetarium, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Veterans Art Museum. Some rules do apply:
  • Only an official Museum Day ticket is eligible for free entry.
  • One ticket per household, for two people.
  • A ticket will gain entry to only one of the participating museums, excluding parking and special events and exhibits.
  • If museum reaches capacity, museum has right to limit the number of guests until space becomes available.
